Prof. dr Tomo Popović je vanredni profesor na Univerzitetu Donja Gorica u Crnoj Gori, gdje predaje predmete iz oblasti informacionih sistema i računarskih nauka. Doktorirao je tehničke nauke na Elektrotehničkom fakultetu Univerziteta Crne Gore, magistrirao na Texas A&M Univerzitetu (SAD) iz oblasti elektrotehnike i računarskog inženjeringa, a osnovne studije završio na Fakultetu tehničkih nauka Univerziteta u Novom Sadu.
Sa više od 30 godina međunarodnog iskustva u akademskom i industrijskom okruženju (Srbija, SAD, Crna Gora), njegov istraživački rad fokusiran je na primijenjene računarske nauke, posebno na inteligentne sisteme, Internet stvari (IoT) i data science, sa primjenama u energetici, biomedicini, poljoprivredi i industriji.
Prof. Popović je rukovodio i učestvovao u brojnim nacionalnim i međunarodnim istraživačko-razvojnim projektima, uključujući razvoj IoT platformi za preciznu poljoprivredu i eko-monitoring, kao i mobilnih i IoT rješenja za zaštitu brenda u agro-prehrambenoj industriji (TagItWine, H2020 DEMETER). Učestvovao je i u projektima koji podržavaju digitalnu transformaciju poljoprivrede i lanaca snabdijevanja hranom (DIPOL, DEMETER, VIRAL, ECOMON, Food-HUB).
Njegov najnoviji rad obuhvata projekte iz oblasti vještačke inteligencije i visokoperformansnog računarstva (HPC), kao što su H2020 EuroCC i AIMHiGH u okviru FF4EuroHPC inicijative, sa fokusom na AI rješenja za pametnu poljoprivredu. Trenutno je ključni istraživač na projektima poput DEP EuroCC2, nacionalnog naučnog projekta AI-AGE i H2020-MSCA TRACEWINDU.
Autor je više od 100 naučnih radova i član je IEEE sa statusom Senior Member, kao i član ACM i CIGRE.
