dr Paul Dishman

Paul Dishman, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of Marketing at Utah Valley University. In 2009 he was named by the U.S. State Department to be a Fulbright Scholar in Market and Competitive Intelligence to Montenegro. Dishman holds an MBA degree in Marketing and a Ph.D. in Marketing Research and Psychometric Measurement. Before joining Utah Valley University, he taught at Idaho State University and Brigham Young University. Before returning to academia he served on the marketing staffs of both Apple Computer and IBM. He has taught Market and Competitive Intelligence for twelve years and has conducted industry projects for over two decades. Dishman is a Past-president of the international Society of Competitive Intelligence Professionals (SCIP) has been named a Fellow of the Society. He has also been named a Fellow of the Academy of Marketing Science. For three years, Dishman served as Competitive Intelligence Scholar-in-Residence at American Microsystems. Dishman lectures on Market and Competitive Intelligence to a variety of companies, organizations, and conferences. During the past few years, he has spoken and conducted training programs in China as part of a United Nations invitation, as well as for the American Marketing Association, Microsoft, 3M, IBM, Amgen, American Airlines, KPMG, Deutschebank, Westinghouse, Unilever, professional groups, SCIP chapters and various government agencies. He is a lead faculty member of the SCIP Institute for Professional Certification. He has also lectured in Japan, Taiwan, the U.K., Belgium, Italy, France, and Canada and has published scholarly research in The European Journal of Marketing, Market Planning and Intelligence, the Journal of Personal Selling and Sales Management, Industrial Marketing Management, the Journal of Competitive Intelligence and Management, and Competitive Intelligence Review. He is married and has two children.
